Recipe: Hershey’s Brownies

Before we plunge right into the recipe or my verdict of this yummy brownie – Hello kellykylie! Welcome on board 🙂

So on Thursday a friend (monmon) came by and spent her day with us (Me and Charley) baking brownies. It was actually our first time baking together and we’ve decided to go for something easy, fuss-free, quick and definitely yummy without needing a stand mixer. It was quite a last minute plan and after a few clicks on the net, we have decided to go for HERSHEY’s recipe..well anything HERSHEY wouldn’t be anything bad right? We followed everything in accordance, but adapted along the way. So here’s our version of it:

Directions:

Step 1: Pre-heat oven to 175°C. Prepare melted butter by placing butter in a bowl on top of another with hot water. I didn’t turn on the stove because I did not want it to be so hot that the butter boils and in turn cooks the eggs in the next step. Further to that, I had left the butter in room temperature for an hour before we begin so melting it was fairly easy. Next, grease baking pan with butter.

Step 2: Stir in sugar and vanilla. Add in eggs, one at a time. The instructions said to beat with a spoon, but we went along with a whisk. Add in cocoa powder until well blended. Add in flour (in batches, because throwing in all at once makes mixing difficult), baking powder and salt and beat till everything is well blended. Pour batter in greased pan.

Step 3: Bake 30 – 35 mins or until the brownie sides pull off from the pan. Cool it on a wire rack if you have, we cooled in on my big chopping board. Prepare frosting while it cools.

Frosting Recipe:

Beat the first 4 ingredients until blended. Add powdered sugar and milk in batches; beat to spreading consistency. We kept the remaining frosting for bread spread!

Verdict:

Definitely tasted awesome! But we could lower the quantity of sugar a lot more for the brownie and frosting. This brownie tasted…very compact. It is not your bought from store brownie that tasted fluffy so if you’d like that kind of texture then this is not your thing. I finished my share of the brownie on my own because the husband seems a little health conscious on this one! Well, load on those pounds for me! 🙂
